| Info | Fred has lived in Columbia since 1998, moving here with his wife Sherry after his retirement. Fred and Sherry are members of the St. Thomas More Newman Center of Columbia. Fred has two grown children and eight wonderful grandchildren.
Fred was born in Los Angeles, California and was raised in Arizona by his parents who were life-long small business entrepeneurs. Fred graduated from Arizona State University with a B.A. in English Literature in 1970, the same year he joined the U.S. Army.
Fred served 24 years in the army, serving in various command positions and prominent staff positions around the world, including Director of Military Education in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense at The Pentagon. In this role, Fred was responsible many aspects of overall military education, including coordinating and integrating a $2 billion military education slice of the defense budget, and being responsible for the development of veterans' education benefit programs.
Fred has also worked in the private sector as a manager at various levels in the home and small business security sector.
Fred is active in the Columbia community, including serving as President of Ability Arts, being a member of the choir at the Newman Center, and playing in the Columbia Community Band.
