After prayerful consideration, I believe it is necessary to offer Republican voters a choice before we may have another Packwood-like situation. Any candidate who says one thing and does something else does not deserve leadership responsibilities. Mr. Bunn's divorce and female hiring practices would be issues, raised by Democrats in the general election, to challenge his family-values image. Republican voters should have the chance to clean their own house.
Republicans may want someone who:
Will fight against outcome-based education, not vote for it.
Work for welfare reform, not vote against it
(Mr. Bunn was one of only 4 House Republicans to do so).
Oppose funding for NEA and NEH, not support those programs.
Further, I have differences of approach or position with Mr. Bunn on education, environment, campaign reform, foreign policy, trade, product liability, term limits, telecommunications and Defense.
Oregonians need better representation.
Although I am a very strong pro-life, family-values, evangelical, conservative, I completely reject the leadership of the OCA who chose Mr. Bunn in 1994 and continue to support him knowing his positions and problems.
Isaiah 9:16--Those who guide the people mislead them, and those who are guided are led astray.
Now is the time for Republicans to put their money and votes where their concern has been!
