| Info | Paul Zed is the Member of Parliament for Saint John, and was re-elected to the House of Commons in January 2006.
As a successful Saint John businessman, Paul Zed is legal counsel to Clark Drummie, a leading Atlantic Canada law firm. He is a member of the New Brunswick, Canadian, and International Bar Associations.
From 1982 to 1984, Mr. Zed was a lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. He then became a partner in a successful Saint John law firm working in the area of corporate law, while also teaching Business Law at the University of New Brunswick Saint John.
First elected to the House of Commons in 1993, Mr. Zed’s parliamentary experience includes serving as chairman of three key parliamentary committees: Industry, Government Operations, and Procedure and House Affairs. In 1996, he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Leader of the Government in the House of Commons.
Currently, Mr. Zed is the Chair of the Subcommittee on Public Safety and National Security, and serves on the Standing Committee on Access to Information, Privacy and Ethics.
Mr. Zed graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and also completed a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of New Brunswick and a Master of Laws degree from the London School of Economics.
He is a member of the Board of Directors of Enterprise Saint John, Special Olympics Canada, the Saint John United Way, and is Co-Chair of “Leaders of the Way” campaign. He also serves on the Lily Lake Pavilion Restoration Committee, and is a member of the Board of Governors of Pearson College of the Pacific, and also chaired their governance committee.
Mr. Zed lives in Rothesay, New Brunswick with his four children.
