Info | Long-time Senator from Atlantic County (1941-1972), served as Senate President for two terms. Was very influential in the 1940s, 50s, much of the 60s when there were only 21 senators (one from each county) but the switch to population-based districts reduced his clout. Was strongly opposed to gambling at casinos in Atlantic City and worked to prevent legislation supporting it.
Following his death in 1977, the service plaza on the Atlantic City Expressway and a marina in Atlantic City were named for him.
