Doug Dodd is a candidate for Congress from Oklahoma's First Congressional District. Prior to running for Congress, Doug Dodd served 11 1/2 years as a member of the Tulsa Public Schools Board of Education. Doug served two terms as President of the Board. He is a partner in the Tulsa law firm of Doerner, Saunders, Daniel & Anderson, L.L.P. Doug and his wife, Elaine, have been married for 32 years. They have two grown children, Amanda and Andrew, and a three-year old grandson, Clayton. .
A native Tulsan, Doug graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1967. Doug received a Bachelor's degree in Speech: Radio & Television from the University of Tulsa in 1971. He served as a Missile Launch Control Officer in the United States Air Force. Doug later earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa College Of Law in 1981. Doug served as a law clerk to the Honorable James O. Ellison, United States District Judge for the Northern District of Oklahoma.

For nearly 20 years, Doug has been engaged in civil trial practice, tort and personal injury defense and commercial litigation. Doug spent 14 years in radio and television journalism, including three years at KTUL-TV, Channel 8 and five years at KOTV, Channel 6 before becoming a lawyer specializing in media law with an emphasis on First Amendment and defamation issues. He has lectured both attorneys and journalists on open meetings and open records issues. Doug is past Chairman of the Oklahoma Bar Association Bar-Media Relations Committee, a member of the Defense Counsel Section of the Libel Defense Resource Center and the American Bar Association Forum on Communications Law. Doug is listed in The Best Lawyers in America under First Amendment Law.

In August 2001, Doug was awarded the Thirty-First Annual Distinguished Service Award by the Oklahoma State School Boards Association. Doug is past President of CPR The Critical Link; past Chairman of the Board of the American Diabetes Association, Inc.; served on the Boards of the Tulsa Press Club and the Eastern Oklahoma Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists; Doug is a member of the Vietnam of America, chapter #524, American Legion, Post 1, and the National Association of the Retired Federal Employees. Doug is a board member of the Foundation for Tulsa Schools. Doug is an ordained Elder and Deacon at Southminister Presbyterian Church, where he sings in the chancel choir.
