Her husband, P.J. Cunnane, is also lifelong, second-generation, and they have raised their three sons – Pat, Harry, and Alex – in Glenside and Jenkintown.
Madeleine earned her undergraduate degree at La Salle University, Philadelphia, and her law degree at Widener University School of Law, in Wilmington, Delaware (Class of 1984.)
Currently, she is an assistant professor of English at La Salle University, where she teaches persuasive writing, rhetoric, business writing, legal writing and ethics.
Madeleine began her law career in 1984 as an associate at A. Harold Datz, P.C. in Philadelphia, where she represented clients through all phases of general practice and litigation, including personal injury, real estate, contract and estate practice.
Two years later, Madeleine became the executive director of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association – the largest metropolitan plaintiffs' civil trail association in the country. During her tenure, she increased membership by more than 50 percent and contributed to the organization's publication: The Verdict.
During the 1990s, Madeleine served as an in-house counsel to Cunnane Bicycle Company, Inc., and opened a small three-woman general law practice in Glenside – Dean, Homicki & DeVita.
Madeleine is a lifelong parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Glenside, and has served as a board member for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, volunteer for Christmas in April/Rebuilding Together, and an executive council member at Ancillae Assumpta Academy.
Madeleine began teaching at La Salle in 2001; and now, when not grading papers, she writes op-eds for The Philadelphia Daily News on topics of politics, law, pop-culture and family milestones. In addition, Madeleine is a student at the University of Pennsylvania, Fels School of Government, pursuing a certificate in politics.
Madeleine, PJ and their boys live in Jenkintown, Abington Township.
