| Info | WILLIAMS, Hezekiah, a Representative from Maine; born near Woodstock, Vt., July 28, 1798; was graduated from Dartmouth College, Hanover, N.H., in 1820; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Castine, Hancock County, Maine, in 1825; register of probate for Hancock County 1824-1838; selectman of Castine 1833-1835; trustee of the school fund in 1834; member of school committee in 1840; served in the State senate 1839-1841; again a selectman of Castine in 1843 and 1844; elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-ninth and Thirtieth Congresses (March 4, 1845-March 3, 1849); resumed the practice of law; died in Castine, Maine, October 23, 1856; interment in Castine Cemetery.
