Info | AYCRIGG, John Bancker, a Representative from New Jersey; born in New York City July 9, 1798; studied medicine; was graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons (now the medical department of Columbia University), New York City, in 1818 and was admitted to practice in New York; moved to New Jersey and located at Paramus; elected as a Whig to the Twenty-fifth Congress (March 4, 1837-March 3, 1839); presented credentials as a Member-elect to the Twenty-sixth Congress but was not permitted to qualify; elected as a Whig to the Twenty-seventh Congress (March 4, 1841-March 3, 1843); was not a candidate for renomination in 1842 to the Twenty-eighth Congress; resumed the practice of medicine in Paramus; moved to Passaic, N.J., and died there November 8, 1856; interment in Paramus Church Cemetery, Ridgewood, N.J.
