InfoElaine Richardson is the first woman to be elected to the State Senate in District Eleven. She first was elected to the Arizona House of Representatives in 1992 where she spent four years as a Representative before moving to the Senate in 1997. Ms. Richardson is a native of Rhode Island where she was schooled and is a member of the Rhode Island Honor Society. She is the mother of two sons, both graduates of the University of Arizona. Ms. Richardson is a commercial real estate broker and has been a successful business owner of Swan Realty Ltd and Las Naranjas Bed and Breakfast.

District Eleven is a wide district that stretches from Ajo to part of Nogales and encompasses Tucson's west side, Marana, Three Points, Sells, Arivaca, part of Tubac and Rio Rico.

Senator Richardson's legislative career has been distinguished by her passage of many pieces of legislation from underground storage tank issues, real estate issues, small business issues, legislation that eased the financial burden of Altar Valley School District, funding for victims of lupus in Nogales, school safety zone passage, anti-graffiti legislation and many more. She is most noted for being the front runner for domestic violence issues. In 1998, the passage of her SB 1219 and SB 1175 are landmark in that a new class of felony called aggressive domestic violence has been added to Arizona law as well as an aggressive method of treating and disciplining perpetrators.

She has been a member of Toastmasters, Government Committee Chair for the Arizona/Sonora Professional Women's Conference, 1996 Legislator of the Year by the Arizona Association of Realtors, received A+ rating from Sierra Club, Vice Chair of Energy and Transportation for the NCSL, recipient of the 1997 Woman on the Move Award and was selected as 1998's Woman of Courage in Pima County. She is currently regional directory of the National Organization of Women Legislators(NOWL). Ms. Richardson has attended Bryant College; Pima College; Language Studies International; Berlitz School; Brodsky and Hogan Schools of Real Estate; University of Arizona Study Abroad Program; Member of Rhode Island Honor Society; Honorary Doctorate from Tucson University; National Foundation of Women Legislators, Leadership College Graduate - 1998.
