InfoEdward Dorsey Ellis Rollins, Jr.

Edward D. E. Rollins, Jr.-3/29/32 to 5/5/05. The Honorable Edward D. E. Rollins, Jr. resided in Elkton, Maryland his entire life. He graduated from High School from Archmere Academy. He then attended Loyola College where he participated in their law program until 1954. At that time the program was such that you could go to College for 3 years and then immediately enroll into Law School, which he did. Judge Rollins graduated from the University of Maryland School of Law in 1956. Unlike the younger Rollins’, Judge Rollins immediately opened a solo law practice as his father was the Attorney General for the State of Maryland at the time. In 1963 he formed Rollins & Calvert which lasted as a partnership until 1979. Then it became time to rename the firm yet again, this time as Rollins & Rollins as Edward D. E. Rollins, III joined his father in 1980. That partnership lasted until 1983 when Edward D. E. Rollins, Jr. went on the bench as a Judge of the Circuit Court for Cecil County. In 2002 Judge Rollins retired from the bench, but ever the worker, continued to sit on the bench part time as a retired judge until his death in 2005. Almost as impressive as his career itself is the amazing and accomplished legacy that he left behind. To this day, at any given time you can walk the halls of the Court that he presided over for 20 years and can stop someone who will be able to tell you five stories about Judge Rollins. At his death, friends and colleagues lined the streets of Elkton to pay tribute to a man who had done so much for Cecil County.
