Info | The Hon. Noel Arscott is the Minister of Local Government and Community Development and the Member of Parliament for South West Clarendon.
Before assuming his Cabinet post, Mr. Ascott was the Shadow Minister for Mining and Environment, Science & Technology.
His contribution to Jamaica spans several sectors including agriculture, mining and education. As an agro-processor and farmer, Minister Arscott managed NASA Farms Ltd., worked at Revere Jamaica Alumina Company and taught at the Garvey Maceo High School for several years.
He has served on local boards, including various school boards and Mid-Clarendon Irrigation. He was also the Secretary/Treasurer of the Rhymesbury Dairy Development. At the national level, he was a board member of the Parish Council Services Commission, National Irrigation Commission and Development Bank of Jamaica.
Despite his achievements in Jamaica, Mr. Arscott’s responsibilities are also evident at the regional level as he is the Chairman of the Caribbean Forum of Local Government Ministers (CFLGM), Co-chair of the Programme Steering Committee of Caribbean Local Economic Development (CARILED) and a Board Member of the Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF).
Minister Arscott was also Jamaica’s Representative to the Permanent Commission, World Festival of Youths & Students and a Bureau Member, World Federation of Democratic Youth.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from the University of the West Indies, Mona.
Mr. Arscott is one of Four Vice Presidents of the People’s National Party, a position he has held since September 2008.
