InfoElwin Hermanson was born in Swift Current and raised on the family farm near Beechy, Saskatchewan. Since 1975, he has farmed near Beechy and provided custom farming services. Prior to his political career, Elwin served on the Board of Directors of the Full Gospel Bible Institute. He also sat on the Beechy-Demaine Economic Development Committee.

Elwin, representing the Reform Party, was elected as MP for Kindersley-Lloydminster from 1993 – 1997. He served as House Leader from 1993 – 1995 and was Chief Agriculture Critic from 1995 – 1997. In 1997, Elwin was a founding member of the Saskatchewan Party. On April 20, 1998, he was elected as the first Leader of the Saskatchewan Party.

Elwin was elected as the MLA for Rosetown-Biggar and Leader of the Official Opposition in Saskatchewan in 1999 and was re-elected MLA for Rosetown-Elrose in 2003. He is currently the Chair of Public Accounts, Critic for Intergovernmental Affairs, and Deputy Critic for Executive Council.

Elwin and his wife Gail have been married for 28 years and have three children.
