| Info | Jerry Compton was originally appointed to City Council to represent Zone 3 in May 2009, and was elected in April 2011. He currently serves as Chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee and is a member of the Public Involvement Committee. Additionally, he serves on the Ozarks Transportation Organization Board of Directors, Enterprize Zone Board, Convention Center Task Force, and the Strategic Planning Committees for Transportation and Growth and Land Management Uses.
As a life-long resident of Springfield, Mr. Compton's professional career includes more than twenty-five years as an architect, having opened his own architectural firm in 2003. Mr. Compton also has project management experience in fifteen states. In addition to his architecture practice, Mr. Compton is employed part-time by Missouri State University as Manager of the Campus Construction Team.
Mr. Compton received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Drury University. Mr. Compton holds the distinction of being the first graduate of the architecture program at Drury University
Mr. Compton’s civic involvement includes service on the Planning and Zoning Commission for over six years and service on the Personnel Board for over a year until his appointment to City Council. He currently serves as a volunteer with the State Emergency Management Agency, serving as a Structural Inspector.
Mr. Compton enjoys spending time with family, Cardinals baseball, fishing, and shooting sports. Mr. Compton has been married to Patricia, who he met at Drury University, for thirty-nine years. They have four children and two grandchildren.
