InfoJohn Rush was elected as an at-large City Council member in April 2009. He currently serves as a Member of the Council Finance and Administration Committee and the Community Involvement Committee.

Mr. Rush recently retired from a long and successful tenure as the President and CEO for the United Way of the Ozarks. He has a long history with the United Way Organization including positions in Kingston, Jamaica; Wichita, Kansas; Kansas City, and St Joseph, Missouri.

His educational background includes a Master of Science degree from the University of Missouri, a Bachelor’s of Arts degree from Baylor University and an Associate’s degree from Southwest Baptist University.

Mr. Rush has served the Community in countless areas in addition to his work with the United Way. He served as President of the Springfield/Greene County Park Board and was a member of the Mayor’s Commission for Children. He has served on numerous advisory boards for Missouri State University and Evangel University, as well as the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks and the Community Advisory Board of Great Southern Bank. In addition he has served on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of Springfield and the Child Advocacy Center, and been a participant in the Leadership Forum for the Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Rush currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Jordan Valley Community Health Center, Presbyterian Children’s Services, Ozarks Health Advocacy Foundation, ARK Foundation, and the Greene County 100 Club. He also serves on the Advisory Committee for the Missouri Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Committee, the Selective Service Board, the Good Community Committee and the Jordan Valley Advisory Board. He was honored in 2008 with the Bill Stalnaker Award.

Mr. Rush is married and has three children and seven grandchildren.
