InfoFeda Kidd Morton lives in Fluvanna County and is married to Don T. Morton, a retired Fire Chief from the Virginia Department of Forestry and a Life Member of the Virginia Fire Chiefs Association. Don Morton is a co-founder of Fluvanna Meals on Wheels, Inc. and currently serves as Chairman of the Board. He also serves as a Reservist with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management, veteran of the United States Army, and graduate of Virginia Tech.

Feda is the proud mother of five children. Her daughter Erin lives in Louisa County, and is married to Phillip Johnson. They have two young sons, Wesley and Wyatt. Feda’s sons Timothy, Daniel and David attend Virginia Tech on Army ROTC scholarships and are members of the Corps of Cadets. Her son Joseph is a sophomore at Fork Union Military Academy.

Feda’s broad experience includes roles in public education, administration, coaching state championship high school teams, local government, civic organizations, Christian education, home schooling, successful campaigns for elected office, and political organizing. She also co-founded and managed a successful construction company and is a member of Fluvanna Baptist Church where she teaches a four and five year old Sunday School class.

Feda is employed by the Fluvanna County School system where she teaches regular biology, Honors biology and Advanced Placement biology. She regularly gives up her lunch and planning time to tutor or help struggling students. Feda’s persevering attitude and commitment to her students enables many students, who desperately need the extra support and encouragement, to achieve the highest goals.

Feda graduated with honors from Buckingham County High School and was MVP on her high school basketball team. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Longwood College in 1975, graduating “Cum Laude” while playing four years of college basketball. She continued her education at the University of Virginia, where she earned her Master of Education degree in motor learning and sports medicine. Recently Feda earned her Administrative and Supervision Endorsement PreK-12 and prepared herself for a role as a school administrator.

Feda began her teaching and coaching career in 1975 in Buckingham County. In 1978, she was recruited by Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Phil Browning to come to Fluvanna to coach girls basketball, volleyball, and track. Coach Browning was her mentor and inspiration, and for the next eleven years Fluvanna’s girls’ teams won many district, regional and state titles in basketball and track, including back to back state basketball championships in 1981 and 1982, and a State title in track and field in 1981. She organized and led the first Fluvanna Girls Basketball Camp (1985-1988) and formed a championship program in soccer and basketball at Open Door Christian School ( 2001-2005).

After her first 13 years in public education, Feda left public education to raise her five children, homeschooling them for nine years. In 1998, she and her children entered a private Christian school where she continued to teach and coach for the next eight years. While homeschooling and teaching in private school, Feda served nine years on the local school board and boards of other county organizations.

Feda has coached many teams in the after school program through Parks and Recreation and served as Chairman of the Fluvanna County Advisory Board for Parks and Recreation 2002-2005. She and two of her sons, Tim and Dan, have earned black belts through the Tae Kwon Do program offered at Parks and Recreation.

In 1991 she was appointed to the Fluvanna County School Board and served four years where she earned a Certificate of Excellence from the Virginia School Boards Association for her active involvement and participation. Feda ran for school board in 2002, beating a strong incumbent, and was reelected in 2005. As a member of Virginia School Board Association, she was elected to serve as Secretary of the VSBS Central Region. Her service to the community also includes serving on the Fluvanna County Health Advisory Committee (1992-95), Fluvanna Arts Council Advisory Board (1993-95), Local Health Benefits Advisory Board – appointed by Governor Allen (1994-97), Vice- Regent, Daughters of the American Revolution, Point of Fork Chapter (1998-2001), Chairman of the Fluvanna Republican Committee (1995-2005) and past Chairman of the Fluvanna County Advisory Board for Parks and Recreation (2002-2005).

As an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Point of Fork Chapter, Feda currently serves as the American History Committee Chairman and is the coordinator for the DAR American History Essay writing contest. During her chairmanship, Fluvanna has had eight District winners, three State winners and two Eastern Regional winners on the national level for the essay contest.

Feda began her political career in the early 1990s with Russ Moulton’s campaign for State Senate and as the Fluvanna County Coordinator for the Lieutenant Governor campaign of Mike Farris, President of the Home School Legal Defense Association. Feda was then elected as the Chairman of the Fluvanna Republican Committee and turned a very small organization into one of the strongest in the state for voter turnout for conservative Republican candidates for the next decade under her leadership. Feda also served on the 5th District Republican Committee and was elected from there to serve on the Republican State Central Committee.
