InfoMax E. Bacon was born in Springfield, Mo., and resides there. He graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1959. He was educated at Southwest Missouri State University, graduating in 1965 with a degree in history and political science, and at the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, graduating in 1968. He was in the Army, 1962-63. He worked for the Springfield city attorney's office in 1968-70. He was elected in 1970 to the Missouri House and was re-elected in 1972. He served briefly as a prosecuting attorney in Douglas and Dallas counties. In 1974, he was elected magistrate in Greene County. In 1976, he was elected Greene County circuit judge, and was re-elected in 1982 without opposition. He resigned in February 1988 to begin his bid for the U.S. House. In all of his elections, he upset incumbents. Bacon became well known in religious circles by going on gospel-singing tours with Republican Gov. John Ashcroft. Max Bacon and his wife, Rita, have three children.
