InfoCREAGER, Charles Edward, a Representative from Oklahoma; born near Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio, April 28, 1873; attended the public schools of Ohio, and Northern Indiana University; engaged in the newspaper business; enlisted as sergeant major in the Fourth Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Spanish-American War and served under General Miles in the Puerto Rican campaign; city editor of the Columbus Press-Post 1899-1901; editor of the Daily Leader, Marietta, Ohio, 1902-1904; moved to Muskogee, Indian Territory (now Oklahoma) in November 1904 and engaged in the newspaper business, later becoming publisher and editor of several Oklahoma newspapers; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-first Congress (March 4, 1909-March 3, 1911); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1910 to the Sixty-second Congress; employed in the United States Indian Service and later engaged in oil production until 1934, when he retired; was a resident of Muskogee, Okla., until his death there on January 11, 1964; interment in Greenhill Cemetery.
