Info | Rob Matzie is a lifelong resident of Ambridge and graduated from Ambridge Area High School. He received an Associate’s Degree in High Technology Communications from the Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) and a Bachelors Degree in Journalism and Communications from Point Park University.
Rob has served as a State Senate staff member assigned to Senator Gerald J. LaValle for the past 13 years. Matzie is also the former Mayor of Ambridge and was an elected Representative of Beaver County to the Pennsylvania Democratic State Committee. He previously worked at WMBA Radio in Ambridge begining when he was 18 years old working his way through college. He has continued working in radio currently covering High School Sports as a play-by-play announcer for the Management Science Associates Sports Network heard throughout the tri-state area and on the internet.
Rob is married to Patty and they have a six year-old daughter, Claire, who is a student in the Ambridge Area School District. Patty is a graduate of Keystone Oaks High School, Robert Morris University and the Pennsylvania State University. Rob Matzie is the second son of Andrew (Jr.) and Catherine (Kay) Mendicino-Matzie and the brother of David of Rochester who is employed in hotel management, and Michael of Ambridge who serves as a Deputy Sheriff in Beaver County. Rob and his family attend Good Samaritan Parish in Ambridge.
Rob’s father worked for 29 years at Westinghouse Electric in Vanport was a member of the Beaver Salaried Employee Association and both of his grandfathers were steelworkers. His Grandfather Louis Mendicino worked for 40 plus years at American Bridge Company in Ambridge and his grandfather Andrew worked at Spang-Chaflant and also served on Ambridge Council in the 1940’s and early 50’s. Rob’s Uncle and Godfather Victor worked for 30 plus years at H.H. Robertson in Ambridge. He and his Aunt Lena (Pusatari) lived in the City of Pittsburgh just over the Ross Township boundary on Bascom Avenue.
