Info | MORRIS, Cadwalader, a Delegate from Pennsylvania; born in Philadelphia, Pa., February 19, 1741; attended the rural school; engaged in commercial pursuits and in the management of his estate; resided for a time in the West Indies; during the Revolutionary War was a member of the Philadelphia Troop of Light Horse; assisted in the establishment and served as an inspector of the Bank of Pennsylvania in 1780; one of the founders and a director of the Bank of North America in 1781; Member of the Continental Congress in 1783 and 1784; was elected for another term, but declined; after the war operated an iron furnace in Birdsborough, Pa., but subsequently engaged in mercantile pursuits in Philadelphia; member of the Democratic Society of Philadelphia; died in Philadelphia January 25, 1795.
