Info | Bill Neff, a 54-year-old locksmith and security professional who founded his own firm here nearly 32 years ago, said he is a fiscal conservative and political outsider who wants to take his business expertise to Harrisburg.
"I never ran for public office, but I have scores and scores of experience in the private sector. And really, there is not much difference between the private sector and the public sector," Neff said today. "In the private sector, we have to work within our budgets."
Neff is a resident of Lower Windsor Township in York County, one of only nine municipalities in the 13th Senate district west of the Susquehanna River. He is a certified protection professional who in 1975 founded Neff's Safe, Lock & Security Inc.
Neff, a native of Lancaster and a 1971 graduate of Warwick High School, went to work as a parts manager for General Motors in Lititz before starting his own locksmith shop. He moved just outside of Wrightsville only recently.
He describes himself as a social and fiscal conservative. On his campaign Web site, www.neff4senate.com, Neff calls for a senior-citizen Bill of Rights, and says he favors two-term limits for legislators, tax credits for small businesses, campaign-finance reform, and defining marriage as being between a man and a woman.
He is president of the firm, which employs 10 people and is located on North Christian Street, near the Lancaster Amtrak station.
