Info | Columbus, Ohio - The Fisher College of Business honored six alumni for their professional distinction at the annual Dean's Dinner and Alumni Awards Presentation, held at the Blackwell on Friday, September 20, 2002. More than 50 alumni have been honored since the college's Alumni Society began the awards program in 1993.
Robert J. Weiler Sr.
Robert J. Weiler Sr. also received a Community Service Alumni Award. He earned bachelor of science in business administration, with honors, from the University of Arizona in 1957. He received a master's degree in real estate from Ohio State's College of Business in 1964 and a doctorate in finance in 1968. In 1983, he received a law degree from Capital University Law School, and was admitted to the Ohio Bar that year. He has served on the faculty of The Ohio State University, Franklin University and Capital University Law and Graduate School, is a lecturer for the Ohio Association of Realtors, and is a contributing editor of The Appraisal of Real Estate.
A realtor since 1957, appraiser since 1959, and consultant since 1970, he has developed numerous subdivisions and apartment, office and industrial complexes in central Ohio. He received his MAI and SREA designations and has served as chapter president of both organizations, which are now known as the Appraisal Institute. A past president of the Columbus Board of Realtors, he was selected Realtor of the Year by the Columbus and Ohio Association of Realtors in 1976. He is also a member of the Society of Real Estate Counselors and has served as a director of the National Association of Realtors.
Active in the Columbus community, he has served as president of the Columbus Board of Education and has been a board member, trustee or director for many organizations, including Capital University, COSI, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission, Pilot Dogs, Inc., and the Columbus Metropolitan YMCA. He is founder of and has served as president of the "I Know I Can" board and is a long-time volunteer with the United Way, serving as campaign chairman in 1998.
