Info | Formerly a small business owner and community newspaper editor, Flor Marcelino recently made history by becoming the first woman of colour ever elected to the Manitoba Legislative Assembly.
Flor was born in the Philippines and immigrated to Canada with her husband Orlando twenty-five years ago. They first settled in the Weston community, one of the many vibrant neighbourhoods located in the Wellington constituency.
Flor has a well-earned reputation as a committed member of her local and international church. As well, she is an activist working on behalf of both the Filipino people and her wider community.
In the May 2007 election, Flor defeated a field of five candidates to win the seat with over 53% of the vote. Having won the trust of the electorate, Flor is determined to work for and with her constituents to help build a brighter future for the people of Wellington.
