InfoA passionate advocate for democracy, equality and the marginalized in her community, Faelyne Templer will provide a strong voice for Oshawa at Queen’s Park.

Faelyne is the founder of a Durham-based nonprofit organization called “Avocation.” The organization provides free computer upgrading, customer service and other courses that are accessible to people with disabilities, supportive of newcomers to Canada, and designed to provide industry-recognized essential skills for low-income earners to help them become more independent and take charge of their lives and their careers.

Barrier-free access to training and employment is a key component of the Liberal message, and part of democracy in action, and a strong pillar of Faelyne’s commitment to the community.

Faelyne also works closely with the business community to help them tap into the skilled employees that they require to continue to grow a strong economy in Durham and in the GTA. With nearly 10 years of experience in high tech marketing, Faelyne has a solid background in business and a comprehensive understanding of the factors that create a strong economy.
A leader in her community, Faelyne is the Business Co-Chair of the Durham Region Local Training Board, Executive Board Member of ACTEW (A Commitment to Training and Employment for Women), a member of the Ajax Pickering Board of Trade, a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Whitby and Oshawa, the Durham Region Employment Network and a member of the YWCA’s Women of Distinction Committee.

As recognition of her dedication, Faelyne was honoured in 2006 to be nominated as one of the YWCA Durham’s Women of Distinction for her work in the community through Avocation.

Faelyne has two degrees in Political Science from Carleton University, one in French and one in English. She has lived in the Durham Region for most of her life.
