Info | Chicago Alderman, 1979-1995
Larry Bloom is the managing broker of the Hyde Park office. His successful company, Bloom Realty, Inc., was merged into Sudler Sotheby’s International Realty in April of 2007, and forms the nucleus of the new Hyde Park office.
For 16 years Larry Bloom served as Alderman of Chicago’s Fifth Ward which encompassed all or parts of the Kenwood, Hyde Park, Woodlawn, South Shore and Grand Crossing neighborhoods. Before starting Bloom Realty, he practiced law in Chicago for 30 years, specializing in residential and commercial real estate. His combination of legal and civic experience makes Larry one of the most knowledgeable real estate professionals in Chicago.
Larry Bloom knows the mansions of Hyde Park, having lived in the original Harper Avenue home of William Waterman, of Waterman Pen Company fame. The home was built in 1884 by Lucy Buckingham. Larry knows the residential high rises of Hyde Park especially after serving for four years as President of the Barclay Condominium Home Owners Association. As a graduate of the University of Chicago, and the University of Chicago Law School, Larry knows the University community inside and out. In addition to his expertise in residential real estate, Larry Bloom has also represented buyers and sellers of many commercial properties in Hyde Park.
Larry is married to Ruth Winter Bloom. They have two adult children and have lived in Hyde Park for over 30 years.
