Top Issues:
If elected, I would like to see more neighborhood groups created. These groups create a forum for residents to voice their frustrations and concerns about their specific areas. They empower the neighbors to talk more openly about problem houses and address issues with both law enforcement and other city departments to improve their communities. I believe this would generate a more efficient use of our law enforcement, allowing them to focus more on specific problem spots. I would use the Garden Addition neighborhood as a model of what a productive neighborhood group could be. Through working with the city, they have been able to reduce crime, install more lighting on dark city streets and alleys, they are working on beautification projects, and have a renewed spirit of pride in their neighborhood.

In regards to city goals, I would like to restore professionalism back to city government. I will be responsive, open minded, and accessible in addressing concerns. I will be fiscally responsible and make sure we are getting our money’s worth. I will represent the First Ward with a positive focus and energetic attitude that will bring a fresh new look to the city council. I believe that the west end has been neglected for too long and one way to bring attention back to this side is through highlighting the positives and focusing on the community.
