InfoJim Reeves was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where he earned a B.Sc. Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering. After emigrating to Canada, Reeves joined the Professional Engineers of Ontario and completed his MBA at York University. After working for several years in the computer industry for IBM, Jim became a Canadian Tire dealer running his own retail business in Sutton. Here, he learned the importance of balancing expenses with growth to achieve a sustainable, strong and successful business that benefited the customers, staff and the greater community. In addition to managing his business over the years, Reeves has served on several industry associations.

Jim has volunteered as vice-chair of Georgina Association for Community Living, and as an advocate for Smart Planning initiatives, studying and defining what is important in communities. He is passionate about the environment, particularly around issues concerning Lake Simcoe, and has served on the board of York Environmental Stewardship, which promotes and assists in land and water maintenance and improvement. He has also been a member of the Georgina Heritage Committee, and commodore and founder of the Sail Georgina Association.

Jim is now retired from business and lives on a parcel of managed forest in Georgina along with his wife, Lindy. They have two adult daughters. His pastimes include sailing, classical music, walking in our many regional forests, and restoring classic cars.
