Candidate for mayor of Newark, N.J., 1970, 1974; member of New Jersey state house of assembly, 1972-74, 1980-82; member of New Jersey state senate 30th District, 1976; defeated, 1977; delegate to Republican National Convention from New Jersey, 1980; candidate in Republican primary for Governor of New Jersey, 1981. Died December 26, 1999. Burial location unknown.
Controversial community leader in Newark as well. Founded the North Ward First Aid Squad which was said to protect the North Ward's Italian residents from the more troubled areas of Newark, others claim it was a vigilante group. Long-time rival of Newark mayor Kenneth Gibson and ward leader Stephen Adubato, Sr.
