Info | Born October 16, 1911 in Minneota, Minnesota, Teigland attended public schools in Minnesota and graduated from Augsburg College in Minneapolis. He worked for the East Moline Public Works as a spot welder. He was an active union leader in the Quad City area and has served as President of the Quad City Industrial Union Council.
He was a strong advocate of civil rights and was presented the Martin Luther King Award in 1985 at the King Center in Rock Island. He served as president of the Quad-City Council on Human Rights and was a former member of Rock Island Horticultural Club. He was a member of ACLU; Head Start Program; UAW Local 1304 Retired Workers' Chapter; Nature Conservancy; Quad-City Botanical Center Foundation; US Farmers' Association; National Council of Senior Citizens; and The Sierra Club.
