| Info | Billy Cann is excited about the opportunity to serve the residents Montague - Kilmuir as a member of the new Liberal team.
Billy has lived in the Montague - Kilmuir community for most of his life and believes a change of government is necessary to address many of the growing concerns and issues Islanders are facing.
"I know the residents and the community very well, and I have been hearing a great deal lately about the need for a new economic strategy that focuses on job creation. Many of the areas' residents have fewer employment opportunities due to the closure of several processing plants - and as a result, many are being forced to leave the area to find work."
Billy believes that he is fortunate to live in a community with so many positive attributes and resources. Billy recognizes that Montague - Kilmuir is a very important part of Prince Edward Island, and that need to emphasize long-term projects that will revitalize tourism - and offer funding to agriculture- and fishery-related projects. These are the mainstays of the provincial economy - and they are essential to our Island way of life.
Billy also believes that we must continue to promote improved services for Islanders living in rural communities. Better access to health care, affordable education, and better health services for seniors are just some of the priorities that he will work for on behalf of the residents of Montague - Kilmuir.
Billy was born and raised in the community, and currently earns his living as a fisherman and carpenter. He and his wife Diane live in Gaspereaux.
