| Info | Phil Peredo served as a Congressional Aide to U.S. Congressman Steven Rothman in New Jersey’s ninth district where he handled constituent relations for medical, housing and immigration matters. He was also responsible for reaching out to various ethnic communities through participation in non-profit and youth organizations. During the September 11th attacks, he handled all district office matters regarding the victims’ families and counter terrorism initiatives of the district.
Prior to serving as a Congressional Aide, Philip served for two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the People’s Republic of China where he was a college instructor. At the Neijiang Teacher’s University he founded an Environmental Club where he introduced Earth Day to his Chinese students, secured a grant for the building of an English Resource Center and gave several speeches to students in colleges, high schools and at the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu.
Phil was born in Jersey City where his parents immigrated from the Philippines. His family moved to Bergen County when he was seven and he has lived most of his life in the county. Phil has a B.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland at College Park where he spent his summers interning at the White House and U.S. Congressman Charles Schumer’s office. He has also studied Mandarin Chinese at the Beijing Language and Culture University; Latin American politics and literature at the VENUSA Institute in Merida, Venezuela; and has taken graduate courses in law, political philosophy and federalism at Seton Hall University and Harvard University.
