Info | At the start of his campaign in September, he was an attorney in private practice, a real estate developer and a hearing examiner for the Liquor Control Board.
Michael has over 15 years of government experience in Philadelphia, most recently as special counsel to the Office of Inspector General, and prior to that 10 years as a veteran Deputy and Senior Deputy Attorney General and 4 years as a Philadelphia Assistant District Attorney.
In the Attorney General's Office, he headed up the Asset Forfeiture and Money Laundering Section of the Philadelphia Regional Office of the Drug Law Division conducting financial investigations and prosecutions of major narcotics dealers and organizations.
In this position, he supervised state narcotics agents, financial agents and Pennsylvania State Troopers assigned to Philadelphia to conduct long term narcotics investigations. Mike became a statewide expert on money laundering crimes. Michael was responsible for training State Narcotics Agents, Pennsylvania State Troopers, Prosecutors and Police Officers in detecting, understanding and investigating money laundering crimes and prosecuting violations of money laundering statutes.
Prior to working in Philadelphia, he worked as a trial attorney in the New York City Law Department for 2 years and as an attorney for a continuing legal education school for 1 year. Michael started his career in public service by driving an ambulance for EMS in New York City when he was 18 years old. While growing up in New York, he started earning money shining shoes at age 11 followed by a paper route at age 14.
As an attorney in government service and private practice and as a real estate developer, Michael has been successful and is widely respected for his knowledge, analytical skills and tireless initiative.
Outside of the work arena, Michael has been involved in a range of community matters. He is a volunteer for the American Red Cross, where he served as a volunteer in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, he serves on the Executive Board of the South Street Special Services District, he engages in pro bono legal work and he is President of a Condominium Association in a residential complex in downtown Philadelphia.
