Info | Peter Prebble obtained a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of P.E.I. and a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Sask. He was also awarded a Governor General’s Gold Medal in Business Administration. Until 1999, Mr. Prebble was the coordinator of Saskatoon Communities for Children, a joint planning body promoting the well-being of children in Saskatoon and advancing co-operation among community groups and all levels of government.
Peter was first elected to the Saskatchewan legislature in 1978 representing the constituency of Saskatoon Sutherland. In 1986 he was re-elected to represent the constituency of Saskatoon University. Peter was elected to represent the constituency of Saskatoon Greystone in September 1999 and re-elected in 2003. In 2000-01, Peter served as Co-Chair of the Special Committee to Prevent the Abuse and Exploitation of Children Through the Sex Trade.
In May 2001, Peter was appointed Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Energy and Mines. Peter was appointed to cabinet in August 2003 as Minister Responsible for the Office of Energy Conservation and for the Public Service Commission. In November 2003, he was named Minister of Corrections and Public Safety, Minister Responsible for Sask Water Corporation and Meewasin Valley Authority.
Peter Prebble stepped down from cabinet on February 3, 2006. Peter brings a wealth of experience of over 20 years of community involvement in the Saskatoon area to the Sask legislature.
Peter is married to Louise Gagné. He has three sons: Mark, James, and Michael; and a stepdaughter: Monte.
