InfoMark Wartman was raised in a number of communities throughout Saskatchewan and graduated from Thom Collegiate in north Regina in 1969. In 1975 he graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, and in 1979 he received a Master of Divinity Degree from St. Andrew’s College in Saskatoon. Mark has served as a United Church minister for 20 years; 10 of them at St. James United Church in Regina.

Mark was first elected to the Sask Legislature in 1999 to represent the constituency of Regina Qu’Appelle Valley. He has served as member of the Standing Committees on Agriculture, Environment, Municipal Law, Private Members’ Bills, and Public Accounts; Vice-Chair of the Government Caucus; and as a Government Caucus member on the Cabinet Committee on Social Development. Mark was also a member of the Special Committee on Tobacco Control.

On October 12, 2001, Mark became Minister of Highways and Transportation which included responsibility for the Highway Traffic Board, Sask Grain Car Corporation, and Wascana Centre Authority. In 2003, Mark was appointed as Minister responsible for SGI and STC. In February 2004 Mark was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Revitalization. Upon return of the Deputy Premier in May, Mark was appointed Minister of Agriculture and Food. In addition, Mark serves as Vice-Chairman of the Saskatchewan Grain Car Corporation and the Legislative Instruments Committee.

Mark is married to Gail Wartman, a Regina lawyer. They have two children.
