Info | Deb Higgins sought the New Democratic Party nomination in Moose Jaw Wakamow in 1999 and was elected September 16, 1999 in the general election. Deb was elected Caucus Chair in March 2001. Premier Lorne Calvert appointed Deb as Minister of Labour on September 30, 2001. In March 2002, Deb was given the additional responsibility of Minister Responsible for the Status of Women and SPMC.
On February 3, 2006, Premier Lorne Calvert appointed Deb as Minister of Learning and added Minister Responsible for Literacy, Liquor & Gaming Authority, and Sask Telecommunications. She continues to serve on Treasury Board, Investment Board, and Wakamow Valley Authority, and adds Sask Literacy Commission, Teachers’ Superannuation Commission, Sask Communications Holding Corporation.
Deb is now Chairperson of Liquor & Gaming, member of Crown Investments Corporation of Sask, and Vice-Chairperson for Sask Development Fund Corporation.
Deb and her husband Don are lifelong residents of the Moose Jaw Wakamow constituency.
