Info | Commissioner Carol K. Sloan will utilize her tenure on the Public Regulation Commission to increase Renewable Energy Standards, and hopes renewable energy utilization will spur economic development in rural New Mexico. Additionally, she is working to increase and enhance the relationships between tribes in New Mexico, and the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission. In fact, the Commissioner’s very first proposal on the Commission was a proclamation calling for stronger relationships at the government-to-government level, and tribal sovereignty. The Commission unanimously passed the proclamation. The Commissioner also looks forward to hosting town hall meetings in her district, and increasing the public’s knowledge of the New Mexico Public Regulation and its duties.
Commissioner Sloan has been married to her spouse Jamison for over 30 years. Together they have four daughters, Anne Sloan, who serves as a Board member on the Gallup-McKinley County School District, Jovileatte Sloan a member of the US Army, Stephanie Sloan, and Jacqueline C. Sloan, who currently serves McKinley County Clerk. The Sloans reside in Twin Lakes, on the Navajo Nation, just outside of Gallup. Commissioner Carol K. Sloan has a distinguished career in Government; she served as McKinley County Clerk for twelve years, and is the first Native American ever to serve as a County Clerk in New Mexico. She also served as a Director, on the Board of Directors for the National Association of Counties. Commissioner Sloan attended the University of New Mexico.
