Info | Richard J. (Rick) Hardy teaches courses in American government, public policy, constitutional law, and civic leadership. He is the author of Government in America (Hougton Mifflin), a widely used high school textbook, co-editor of Missouri Government and Politics (Missouri Press), editor of Perspectives in American Politics (Simon & Schuster), and author of many articles in professional journals.
Additionally, Rick has been actively engaged in civic affairs, including spearheading statewide reform drives; serving on many government commissions and boards of directors; volunteering in civic organizations; consulting on and managing scores of political races at all levels of government; and serving as his party's nominee for the U.S. Congress in 1992. Rick has also delivered nearly 800 motivational speeches to high schools, colleges, professional meetings, and civic organizations throughout the nation; and has amassed more than 40 significant teaching and civic leadership awards, including the four-campus Burlington Northern Faculty Achievement Award and the James T. Kemper Award for Teaching Excellence (first year); selection to Golden Key, Mystical 7, and Omicron Delta Kappa leadership honorary societies; inclusion in numerous Who's Who publications, and two campus nominations for the prestigious Case National Professor of the Year Award.
