Info | MacGREGOR, Clarence, a Representative from New York; born in Newark, Wayne County, N.Y., September 16, 1872; attended the public schools in Gloversville, Auburn, and Buffalo, N.Y., and was graduated from Hartwick Seminary, Otsego County, N.Y., in 1893; took a special course at the University of Rochester, Rochester, N.Y., in 1894 and 1895; was admitted to the bar in 1897 and commenced the practice of his profession in Buffalo, N.Y.; member of the State assembly 1908-1912; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth and to the four succeeding Congresses and served from March 4, 1919, until his resignation on December 31, 1928, having been elected as a justice of the supreme court of the State of New York, and serving until his retirement on December 31, 1942; chairman, Committee on Accounts (Sixty-eighth through Seventieth Congresses); appointed official referee of the supreme court of the State of New York on January 7, 1943, and served until his death in Buffalo, N.Y., February 18, 1952; interment in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
