Info | Len Copple was elected to the Tempe City Council in May 1998, served as Vice-Mayor from June 2000 through July 2002 and was re-elected to a four-year term in May 2002. Mr. Copple is chair of the Transportation Council Committee, serves on the Education Partnerships Council Committee and the Central City Development Council Committee of the Whole. In addition, he represents the city on the Tempe Convention and Visitor's Bureau Board and serves on both the Regional Public Transportation Authority and as Tempe's alternate representative on the Valley Metro Rail Board.
He has been a Tempe resident since 1969 and has served the community in many ways. He's been a board member of The Centers for Habilitation in Tempe for more than 17 years, Tempe Sister Cities Board, the Tempe/Kyrene Communities in Schools Board, the Tempe Planning and Zoning Commission and chaired the organization of Downtown Tempe Community. Mr. Copple gained experience as a Tempe City Councilmember while completing a former member's term from 1993 to 1994.
Len opened a law office in Tempe in 1974. He earned his law degree from the University of Arizona and, prior to working as an attorney in the Valley, he served four years as a United States Army captain in the Judge Advocate General's Corps. During the 1970's and '80s, Mr. Copple served as a Maricopa County Superior Court Judge pro-tem and during the 1990s as a mediator and arbitrator in civil litigation matters.
