Rebel group and political party split from the Sudan People's Liberation Movement in 2013 and led by Riek Machar, a former vice president of South Sudan's President Salva Kiir.
Machar's dismissal on July 23, 2013 started what is called the South Sudanese Civil War, which resulted in 400,000+ deaths to date [also called the anti-governmental forces (AGF)].
