Center-right non-parliamentary party operating in both Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Party claimed Slovakia's 7th Prime Minister Ján Čarnogurský (1991-1992) at the birth of the Czech and Slovak Federative Republic on April 23, 1990, but voted against the adoption of the Declaration on the Sovereignty of the Slovak Republic in July 1992, which led to the independence of Slovakia on January 1, 1993. Party has been shut out of Slovakia's National Council since 2016. Party has been more successful in municipal contests. The leader of the party since August 22, 2020 has been Milan Majerský, who is also chairman of the Prešov self-governing region [Kresťanskodemokratické hnutie (KDH)].
