InfoCarolyn Phippen came to Utah from New York to study political science at BYU. She served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in what was, at the time, the newly-formed Czechoslovakia, Prague Mission. After marrying, she completed her degree at the University of Utah. Growing up surrounded by the early history of this nation and her religion, and later serving a mission in a country just released from unwanted and uninvited communist rule, led to an immense appreciation and respect for the unique freedoms we enjoy in this country.

While home raising children for over 20 years, Carolyn stayed involved in a number of children-focused organizations, including serving many years administering the fundraising and scholarship arm of the Intermountain Suzuki String Institute, running a private music program for at-risk youth in Salt Lake County, and sitting on the board of a foster care review committee.

She also wrote for a national political consultant with clients throughout the country before working for Speaker Greg Hughes in the Utah House, followed by a number of years with U.S. Senator Mike Lee. Currently, Carolyn runs a business coalition, Freedom Front, founded by local tech entrepreneurs looking for ways to educate the public and bring people together in support of preserving free markets and individual liberties. She is also currently running for Utah House District 46.

Carolyn and her husband, Scott, have been married 29 years and are the parents of five boys.
