InfoJohn Fuller is currently a member of the Montana State Board of Public Education and a high school Social Studies teacher at Flathead High School in Kalispell. He has been a high school Social Studies teacher for thirty-two years. During that time he has taught American Government, U.S. History, Economics and Psychology. A product of rural and urban public schools, he has committed his entire career to public education. As a long time veteran classroom teacher he truly understands what the day-to-day problems facing every teacher are like. He has a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Northern Illinois University with History and Political Science majors, and a Masters of Science in Education from National Louis University in Evanston, Illinois.

In addition to serving as a classroom teacher, John has coached a variety of extracurricular activities. He was a Varsity Wrestling Coach for thirteen years, an assistant soccer and assistant cross-country coach for fifteen years and an assistant speech coach for ten years. Some of his fondest memories of his career are associated with his student-athletes who went on to become successful in public education careers.

A Viet Nam veteran, John has been active in veteran's affairs and a big supporter of the "Troops to Teachers" program. John believes that veterans make good teachers and that efforts to encourage veterans to extend their public service by entering public education should be expanded.

In his role as a member of the Montana State Board of Public Education (2001-present), John has supported the efforts to make it less onerous for "highly qualified" teachers to obtain Montana certification. He has proposed new strategies to recruit teachers to Montana and supported a variety of proposals to make it possible for our valuable new teacher education graduates to be able to afford to stay in Montana. John's life and experiences are proof of his belief that education is one of society's most sacred callings.
