Info | CARR, Wooda Nicholas, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Allegheny City (now a part of Pittsburgh), Pa., February 6, 1871; attended the public schools and Madison College; was graduated from Monongahela College, Pennsylvania, in 1891; editor of the Uniontown (Pa.) News and the Uniontown Democrat in 1892; studied law; was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar in 1895 and commenced practice in Uniontown; delegate to the Democratic State conventions in 1898, 1899, 1900, and 1904; elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress (March 4, 1913-March 3, 1915); was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1914 to the Sixty-fourth Congress; resumed the practice of law; was appointed postmaster of Uniontown, Pa., on August 2, 1934, and served until his retirement in 1947; died in Uniontown, Pa., on June 28, 1953; interment in Oak Grove Cemetery.
