I'm not surprised by it. Bush is still a Republican. He's not anti-moderate Republican, he's anti-Trump. If he decides to endorse Trump after all, that will be notable.

I remember political journalists talked about a chilly relationship between Senators Collins and Snowe. Anyone know the cause?

I don't think there was any specific cause mentioned - they just didn't like each other, but they were completely professional to each other.

If Trump tries to fill RBG's seat, it will be trouble for Collins. She will lose voters at home regardless of how she decides to cast her vote on the judicial nominee.

Even having the vacancy on the Court at all is bad news for Collins.

Doug Fogg claims to be running as a write-in candidate for Maine Senate. Here is the link to the official Doug Fogg Facebook page:

Is it safe to assume that an overwhelming number of Savage voters would go to Gideon on redistributions, while a solid number of Linn voters would go to Collins?

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) told the New York Times that she briefly considered running for reelection as an independent but ultimately decided to stick with her party because of loyalty to “the New England brand of Republicanism.” - [Link]

Survey USA simulated the ranked choice ballot. Savage voters went for Gideon as their second choice by 3:1 while Linn voters were more evenly split (with big MOE on those tiny samples)

Simulated RCV poll had Gideon up 51-49. Not sure if site rules allow for its inclusion, but worth noting.

Gideon has conceded.

BrentinCO: New England Republicanism still has life.

Purely in name only. She's not going to pretend moderation anymore.

Absolutely agree. After all the money Schumer and National Democrats threw at her and assuming this is her last term, I think we see much less moderation.

So, her principles and veneer of moderation only existed when she wasn't challenged? That's adorable and good to know that how folk think.

Totally disagree. She risked a primary challenge in 2014, in the midst of the tea party movement, and voted consistently in the center. Susan Collins is a centrist to her bones. She isn't going to become Kelly Loeffler now that she is in her last term.

I was never in the camp that the media got it all wrong in 2016, but they sure did this year.

They got Maine right, but a lot of other races where dead wrong.

Maine north of Bangor is apparently a polling dead zone.
