The Malaysian Islamic Party, an extremist Al Qaeda sympathizer in pursuit of an Islamic state in Malaysia, one modelled on that consecrated by its ally the Taliban, is the largest component of the Perikatan Nasional alliance, and now the largest party in Malaysia, and in the running to dominate the next government. The talk of South to South-east Asia, and a story almost completely ignored in the West.
