DISCUSSION   I:9626 Bojicat ( 947.07 points) December 10, 2020 06:15pm Out of 40+ obscure Romanian parties, each eternally struggling to even sneak a toenail past Parliament's door, the Partidul Alianța pentru Unirea Românilor (nicely acronymed as AUR or 'GOLD') shocks the nation with an incredible 33-seat win. How it did this is being racked over, somewhat viciously, by Romania's chattering classes (Upstart! How dare it!). In the meantime, the ruling PNL sits comfortably - in fact, in splendor on a Baroque Rococo winged throne settee - with ample choice of partners to help it maintain control of government (in spite of its rather poor performance this year). The PNL is free to run the entire table now represented in Parliament (save, of course, the PSD). It can add on board eager partners USR-Plus, the Hungarian UDMR (aka, RMDSZ) and even newcomer AUR (though it would be curious to see which cabinet positions would be offered to a party that seeks to reabsorb the innards of old Bessarabia, which includes Moldova, to build its 'Greater Romania').
