Margo’s tenure as mayor has seen some of the most pressing issues in El Paso’s history including the pandemic, the El Paso Walmart mass shooting, where 23 people were killed and dozens of other injured in a racially motivated attack, and the immigration crisis on the border.

"I don't think any mayor anywhere has had to go through what we have gone through the last two years," Margo said. "I am hopeful that it will be recognized that I did the best I could to lead on behalf of the community through these three crises including the one we are still going through which is this pandemic."
