Tossup now that Brown unexpectedly announced he is retiring.

There is no doubt both sides will try to ride the Chris Brown popularity train to victory. Brown and Mazzeo's voting record is nearly identical and who ever the republican nominee is will have Brown's endorsement and help.

I initially thought this would be a slam dunk for Mazzeo, a popular incumbent with moderate enough credentials to win. But the more I've observed the more I've noticed pundits predicting a rough season for him. I never knew this until recently, but Mazzeo is a famously bad debater, while Vince Polistina is well rounded. Mazzeo also has the Murphy baggage which may help dems in LD 16 and 21, but it may hurt him out here. Lastly republicans seem to be raising enormous sums of cash.

In my eyes Mazzeo is still the favorite, but don't count Polistina out.

What happens if Grossman wins the primary? Were those polls showing him leading real?

One of the polls seems to be legit, so anything is possible, but he is in ballot Siberia and the only reason he was ahead seemed to be name recognition. If he wins the primary this is a super slam dunk/home run/touchdown for Mazzeo.

Why dosen’t it say St. Sen. next to Polistina’s name?

based on the race that gave his appointment to state senator, his term doesnt start until nov 14th, which is after the election, which may explain why he doesnt have the "state senator" next to his name
