No point going through the motions here. The CCM has had close to complete autarchic control of Tanzania for 60 years, and its grip has been widening (with some smirking delight) under Magufuli. A waste of money, time and effort, asserted even by Tanzanian MPs [Link]

84.40% of the vote for Magufuli.
Not satisfied with 2/3rds over-dominance of Tanzania's National Assembly, it is reported (figures not official yet) that Magufuli's Chama Cha Mapinduzi now owns 7/8s of it AND complete control of Zanzibar's 88-seat parliament (the CCM held 84 of these 88 seats after elections in 2016).
The CCM have monopolized Tanzania and led Tanzanians by the nose uninterrupted since its independence in 1961. I see very little difference between it and the suffocating control of Eritrea's People's Front for Democracy and Justice.
