Whoever added Saccone has a twisted sense of humor.

When Jim Cawley won't run, so they get his former chief of staff to do it (Guy L. Ciarrocchi).

This has got to be a record for number of people in a PA Governor primary for either party. 13 people.

Eight potential candidates declined to run on the same day?

It was more about removing them since the first debate happened and they weren't present for it and made no indication they would run.

Barletta was a statewide nominee, yet is barely edging out a state senator. Mastriano has more room to grow than Barletta.

Dave White and Bill McSwain have both hit the airwaves pretty hard, in Western PA at least, Corman to a lesser extent. McSwain pushing military experience and Trump connections as U.S. Attorney and Dave White trying to be Scott Wagner 2.0, yelling like a lunatic about CRT and wokeness. I'd have expected White and McSwain at least to have remained in double digits, but these latest poll numbers, putting them just ahead of nobodies Gerow and Hart, are not encouraging for either. I haven't heard a peep from Barletta.

I'm genuinely curious as to why Melissa Hart decided to run. She's done no campaigning and might as well be invisible.

My best guess (after checking to see if she has a book she's selling) is that she saw an opening to consolidate some of the vote in Western PA, being the only candidate really from that area, plus being the only woman in the field on either side. She probably thought she'd get more attention as a candidate in part for that reason. But she is so far removed from any relevancy whatsoever that she may have ever had that it has basically reset to zero in my estimation, and slapping the name of some random pedestrian walking down Grant Street in Pittsburgh on the ballot probably does as effective of a job at consolidating Western PA. I'd forgotten about her entirely -- and I used to live in her district.

I guess the argument against Hart running for Lt. Governor is that there were already 4 Western PA Republican candidates and getting a plurality out of that would be difficult.
Also her ceiling as a US Senate candidate would be "Western PA Republicans not interested in McCormick"
So in this field, the plan is just "hope that geography helps"

Yet another candidate who comes away with a bad look after pandering for the backing of a petty juvenile who withholds it for want of total and absolute personal loyalty. All this guy ever talks about in his ads is how he was "Trump's U.S. Attorney" with absolutely no other credential to fall back on.

I think Mastriano has topped out. The latest poll has a ton of undecided and unless Trump endorses him, I don't see Mastriano getting any higher.

A little late for candidates to start dropping out and back others.

Pennsylvania Republican bigwigs really got caught napping (or just froze) this cycle..

It certainly wasn't the plan, but rather a last-minute, panicked effort to stop Mastriano. I'm sure all six of Melissa Hart's supporters will push Lou over the top...

Trump endorsed Mastriano. I guess they can kiss the governorship goodbye.

Here's hoping, but these aren't the 2010 GOP senate primaries. The traditionally less electable can absolutely win.

This could be pushing a narrative, but it certainly isn't a liberal narrative.

Quite a collection of nimrods and psychopaths this race was.

Barletta picked the wrong moment to try to be important and imagine if he stayed in Congress and was Congressman Barletta instead of ex-Congressman Barletta who lost big in 2018.
